Conference "Innovative Strategies. How to become an intelligent company- an alternative or necessity?”

On 26 September 2012 a conference was held in the Sosnowiec Science and Technology Park as part of the Second Congress of the European SMEs. It was entitled "Innovative Strategies. How to become an intelligent organization - an alternative or necessity?”.

The topic of the conference was in line with the activities of the Sosnowiec Science and Technology Park. Business innovation, the mutual cooperation between science and business, commercialization of knowledge, and the support for science and technology parks were the most important issues discussed during the meeting. The conference was attended by representatives of small and medium enterprises, business institutions, universities and local authorities.

The conference agenda consisted of two thematic blocks. The first block "Science in Business" was attended by representatives from the world of science:

  • prof. ATH dr hab. inż. Janusz Juraszek –Director of the Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer, University of Technology and Humanities in Bielsko-Biala,
  • prof. dr inż. Arqile Teta – Universiteti Politeknik i Tiranes. AGH Alumni Association Circle "Albania".

Speakers and business representatives in the "Innovation in Business" block included:

  • Krzysztof Cwykiel – President of the Board at Soft Team Consulting Sp. z o.o.,
  • Piotr Gołda – President of the Board at Apena-Remont Sp. z o.o.,
  • Krzysztof Krzanowski – Director – Member of the Board at Leitz Polska Sp. z o.o.,
  • Sebastian Musioł – representative of Watt Sp. z o.o.,
  • Zbigniew Ryński – President of the Board at Temida Sp. z o.o.,
  • Arkadiusz Wójcik – the owner of Constans company.

Conclusions from the conference:

  • Innovation is becoming a necessary condition for the functioning of enterprises in times of crisis
  • Funding for research and development should be considered as a form of investment
  • Co-operation between science and business is essential, but there are many barriers that affect its present form
  • Institutions such as science and technology parks or technology transfer centres can become the link between science and business
  • Science and technology parks promote business and affect the level of companies’ innovativeness through access to expertise and infrastructure
  • An important role in attracting investors and creating attractive conditions for business development is played by local governments and business environment institutions.
